ABOUT ME
Rachel M. Martens is the writer of the Poe gothic thriller series, including Poe: Nevermore (2013), a First Place winner in Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media’s Paranormal Awards, as well as the short horror collection Midnight Hour (2017), the YA romantic thriller Metalhead (2019), and the conspiracy thriller Patriots' Dance (2024). Her short fiction has also appeared in the anthologies Twisted Love (2021), Stranger Than Truth (2021), and Anthology of Campfire Stories (2025). Martens resides in Wisconsin and travels extensively, taking inspiration from the locales she has visited and the books she has read along the way. Her favorite time to write is in the midnight hours with a storm as background music and a mug of tea close at hand. Of her writing, Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media has said, "Ms. Martens succeeds at painting dark, suspenseful, sometimes horrific pictures. It is the kind of psychological horror that locking the doors and windows and reading with the lights on will not keep out."
You can connect with me on social media (icons below the email subscription widget) and even hunt me down on YouTube and Spotify, where you can listen to the same playlists I listen to while writing. I don't post on socials often because I'd rather be writing, but I'd love to hear from you. You can also subscribe to email updates to hear first about publication news and to occasionally receive pictures of my obese Boston Terrier, Milton. You can even reply to those emails...they do actually come directly to me and I read them. <3
